Restoration of Oak Habitats in OregonPartners: Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, USFW, Various Private Landowners, American Bird Conservancy, Landowner Incentive ProgramForest Restoration Partnership is working with five landowners to restore oak savanna and woodland habitats in the Umpqua, Willamette and Tygh Valleys. These projects are enhancing habitat structure by removing noxious weeds, re-introducing native plants, and controlling tree density to encourage large open grown trees. |

Ponderosa Pine Restoration for Priority Bird Species on Family Forests in Idaho, Oregon, and WashingtonPartners: American Bird Conservancy, Various Private Landowners, Center for Conservation Solutions, American Forest FoundationThe American Bird Conservancy, Center for Conservation Solutions, and Forest Restoration Partnership are working together to identify suitable habitats sensitve cavity nesting bird species on private lands, to conduct enhancement activities on these lands, complete management workshops, and produce a landowner stories booklet to spawn interest in conservation-forestry. |

Oak and Pine RestorationPartners: NW Habitat Institute, OHS, Salix and Associates Botany ConsultantsFRP is working with a team of professionals from the Northwest Habitat Institute, Oregon Herpetological Society, and Salix and Associates Botany Consultants to develop a plan to restore oak woodlands and savanna on lands managed by the Eugene District Bureau of Land Management. This project was funded by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation grant. FRP is completing stand level inventory of oak resources among sites on BLM lands, characterizing pre-settlement conditions, and developing silvicultural prescriptions for restoration of conifer dominated sites back to oak and associated understory plant communities. |

Restoration practices will include conifer removal using a combination of helicopters and a low-impact skid-steer crawler, small jackpot burns for fuels reduction succeeded by native grass and forb seeding and plug planting. Pre and post treatment monitoring is planned along with development of additional treatments in this long-term project. |

Lagunas Bonitas Forest Stewardship PlanPartners: Trust for Public Land, New Mexico State Forestry, USFSFRP is working closely with various stakeholders to develop a forest stewardship plan for the Lagunas Bonitas Ranch in Northern New Mexico. The ranch is the state of New Mexico's first partnership through the Forest Legacy Program to protect the property from the encroaching Angel Fire Ski Resort. The plan will focus on restoration of range and forest ecosystems and developing compatible grazing and forest harvest systems. |
